The Señorita Program provides a unique opportunity for young women who choose to participate. What began as a selective social debut has become a full year of educational, social, and volunteer activities.
Preparing Young Women for College and Adult Life
The Señorita Program is a long-standing program of the Guild. In 1956 the Albuquerque Women's Symphony Association established the Doñita program to recognize the daughters of Symphony supporters. The Albuquerque Women's Symphony Association evolved into the New Mexico Symphony Guild, and the Doñita Program became the Señoritas of the Symphony. In 2011, the New Mexico Symphony Guild and the Señoritas of the Symphony evolved into the Music Guild of New Mexico Señoritas Program.
The Señorita Program provides a unique opportunity for young women who choose to participate. What began as a selective social debut has become a full year of educational, social, and volunteer activities. The Señorita Program focuses on personal growth and community service to prepare young women for college and adult life. The Señoritas are presented to the community at the annual Señorita Ball.
The Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras honored the Señoritas of the Symphony Program as the 2007 winner of the Education/Development category in their annual Awards and Competition event.
Señoritas is Sisterhood
The bond of the Señorita ‘sisterhood’ will stay with you throughout your adult life. The friendships that you form will continue to grow well beyond this program year and will allow you to enjoy a special tie to someone for a lifetime. You will share many memories, that time will never erase, with your class and all Señoritas.
